Performance von Gerry Bibby. Grotto Giganta: stalactite/stalagmite

Winterling eine Performance in der GAK durchführen. An die Thematik von Winterlings Ausstellung anknüpfend gestaltet Bibby einen Abend mit Texten von Jean Genet – wobei auch ein Fotokopierer und ein Blumenstrauß rätselhafte Aufgaben übernehmen werden…
“… a flower ‘chandalier’ swings in the room… activated by a simple foot press… as it rubs past the air in the room, another body, a photocopy machine without it’s hat, will project light upward… a beacon trying to capture an image of it’s unstable suitor, a bunch of white blooms perhaps, within it’s frame…
Over thousands of years a stalactite sends messages, projects the desire for concommitance with it’s double/opposite who swells upward (on average 0.13 mm per year) before the possibility for the architectual ‘moment’ when they can finally meet and become one, a ‘column’, arrives.
Grotto Giganta: stalactite/stalagmite will use these bodies of meaning, accompanied by narration, in unusual repose to imagine the incongruencies and intersections which blossom during, say, a fever pitched dance, what happens next, what remains and what is lost thereafter.“
Gerry Bibby, 1977 in Australien geboren, ist Mitglied der Künstlergruppe Silberkuppe aus Berlin. Er realisierte zahlreiche Performances u.a. 2008 im Kölnischen Kunstverein im Rahmen der Ausstellung Konzepte der Liebe und vor kurzem im Museum für Gegenwartskunst in Basel. Susanne M. Winterling und Gerry Bibby arbeiteten bereits bei der Ausstellung Die ums Feuer sind der Arthur Boskamp-Stiftung im Sommer 2009 zusammen.
